HAVING been alerted to a birthday party in South Ockendon, Thurrock police officers investigated but found there were no breaches of Covid restrictions.

A statement from the force said: "Town centre team officers have been out across Thurrock and while on patrol responded to reports that a birthday party was being held in South Ockendon. The officers spoke to those concerned and saw that there were no breaches to COVID legislation and therefore no issues.

"The officers continued their patrols visiting Grays shopping mall, where advice was given to some shoppers around wearing face coverings.

"They also visited a number of licensed premises, to check that there were no issues and were pleased to see that COVID legislation and guidance was being kept to.

"Thank you to everyone who continues to take steps to protect yourself and others.

"By following the regulations you help us to focus our main efforts on what we do best – catching criminals, helping people, and keeping people safe."
