Trees planted in recognition of departing community heroes

By Neil Speight   9th Dec 2021

TWO Magnolia trees have been planted by Belhus and Ockendon Community Forum in recognition of community work carried out by Sonia Dewell and Father Peter Rabin.

Sonia has volunteered for many years clearing up Dilkes Park regularly, volunteering at Rural Horizons Country Park and looking after the flower beds in and around South Ockendon.

She is now moving away from the area with her husband.

Father Peter has now retired and will also be leaving the Ockendon area. He was a very supportive vicar in both Ockendon and Belhus area.

A spokesperson for the forum said: "Both Sonia and Father Peter will be missed."
