Two more deaths added to local virus toll

LATEST figures from the National Audit Office released today (Tuesday, 23 June) show two additional deaths in the total number of victims of Covid-19 in Thurrock.

Figures are now updated weekly, the latest set show that there have been 135 coronavirus-related deaths – two up from last week's announcement.

Between 29 February and 12 June 24 per cent of all deaths in Thurrock have involved coronavirus.

As of today 383 people in the borough (local population 174,341) have been confirmed as having had the virus.

Nationally 42,647 people have died in the UK and 305,289 have been confirmed as having had Covid 19.

The number of deaths day-on-day increased by 15 - and the number of confirmed cases by 958.
