THURROCK Council's lead member of children's services, Cllr Vikki Hartstean, has commended borough-based Impulse Leisure Centre for their efforts to ensure Thurrock's vulnerable children receive a gift this Christmas.

Through their Give a Gift campaign, Impulse Leisure is collecting donations of toys and gifts at their leisure centre sites. These donations will bring festive cheer to vulnerable children across Thurrock and those at Little Havens Children's Hospice.

On Tuesday 19 November, Cllr Hartstean visited Impulse Leisure Centre's Blackshots site to see how many gifts had already been donated.

Donations can be made at the following Impulse Leisure locations:

  • Blackshots, Grays, RM16 2JU
  • Corringham, Springhouse Road, SS17 7NB
  • Belhus Park Golf & Country Club, South Ockendon, RM15 4PX

The campaign runs until Wednesday, 11 December, so there is still time to contribute and make a difference.

Cabinet member Cllr Hartstean said: "Impulse Leisure's Give a Gift campaign is a wonderful example of the generosity and community spirit that defines our borough.

"I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to Blackshots, seeing first-hand their efforts to bring joy to some of our most vulnerable children this Christmas was truly heartwarming.

"I encourage everyone who can to donate a gift and help make a difference. Together, we can ensure every child feels special during this festive season."

Karl Hayes, Managing Director at Impulse Leisure said: "We are proud to support this "Give a Gift" campaign this holiday season, ensuring every child experiences the joy and magic of Christmas.

"By participating in this meaningful initiative, we aim to bring smiles and create cherished memories for children who are in need.

"At Impulse Leisure we believe in the power of community and the spirit of giving. This campaign reflects our commitment to making a positive impact and spreading joy to those who need it most. We encourage everyone to join us in this heartfelt cause and help make a difference this Christmas."
