THURROCK Neighbourhood Watch enjoyed a successful awareness event on vehicle crime prevention at Aveley New Estate recently when residents brought a number of questions and also received tips on how to keep their property safe.

The problem of illegal parking and breaches of double yellow line markings was brought up, with police officers saying the issue was one administered by the local authority and that residents should take up complaints with Thurrock Council.

The event was opened by Aveley & Uplands Ward Co-ordinator Srikanth Panjala who explained how residents are involved and are working together voluntarily to keep the communities safe and happy by preventing crime.

Essex Liaison Officer Kevin Blake advised Neighbourhood Watch members about vehicle theft or loss, and stressed owners must take responsibility for ensuring vehciles are left in a secure condition.

He expressed appreciation to Neighbourhood Watch.
