POLICE officers in Thurrock have expressed thanks to an act of kindness from a borough resident.
A statement on the local force's Facebook page says: "We just wanted to share a small but very thoughtful act of kindness that meant a lot to our officers.
"On Friday 26 June, while dealing with a medical emergency on Southend Road in Grays during some of the hottest weather, a member of the public went out of her way to help.
"She bought cold drinks for the officers on scene and took the time to thank them for their work.
"Policing can be challenging at the best of times, and gestures like this really do make a difference.
"Acts of kindness like this remind us of what policing is all about: working together as a community. That sense of togetherness, people looking out for one another and supporting those who are there to help, is what keeps #Essex strong.
"If you see our officers out and about, a simple word of support or, as in this case, a small act of kindness, means more than you might realise.
"To the wonderful lady, thank you for your kindness and support - it was hugely appreciated by our officers on the ground."
