A BOROUGH primary school was closed today (Monday, 16 September) following a discovery of a burst main, which left it without water.,

Richard Turner, headteacher of Arthur Buglar School on St James Avenue East in Stanford-le-Hope contacted parents yesterday after discovery of the problem, saying: "Late this morning our site manager discovered a burst water main on the school grounds.

"Emergency repairs are being carried out but the severity of the issue has caused a complete loss of water supply to the school.

"I am left with no choice but to close the school on Monday on the basis of health and hygiene risks, which must remain our top priority.

"I sincerely apologise for any inconvenience."

It is hoped the school will reopen on Tuesday.
