A GROUP of volunteers have been removing hundreds of plastic bottles washed up on the borough's riverbanks in the wake of Storm Ciara and - after the visit of Storm Dennis this weekend they are set to do it all again.
River action Clean-up facilitator Steve Catchpole says: "Unfortunatly the effect on the foreshores has been quite devastating.
"Last Wednesday a small group of us removed 1,400 plastic bottles from the foreshores at the Wharf Hotel and Grays Beach.
"Like all the foreshore along the Thames - lots of tidying up now needed. Look forward to seeing you at an event very soon.
"Please note 20th March – 13th April is this year's Great British Spring Clean - look out for local events that you can support."
