Christmas is definitely coming and there are a host of events featured on our What's On page to get you in the mood for the festive season.

Here's just some of them coming up this weekend:

One the the region's biggest festive events takes place on Friday, 1 december when Tilbury opens up its doors to Father Christmas - who will arrive on a vintage bus - for the town;'s annual Christmas Lights Switch on and street fair.

And the lights will also be going on in South Ockendon.

Hassenbrook Academy in Stanford-le-Hope will host a Christmas Fair on Friday with lots of attactions

Fellow Ortu Trust school Gable Hall will host its festive fair on Saturday.

And perhaps the biggest news of the weekend - oh yes it is! - is the opening of Thurrock's annual panto at the Thameside Theatre.

Jack and the Beanstalk begins on Friday and will run into the new year.

There will be plenty of fun at Aveley on Saturday when the Village Community Foundation's Christmas Spectacular takes place.
