Our weekly preview of 'What's On in Thurrock' picks out a selection of events hosted on our events guide and highlights the annial Stanford and Corringham Carnival that takes place on Saturday.

Two Thurrock venues will be brining residents and visitors to the borough on Friday (22 September).

At the Civic Hall in Blackshots You will be going loco down in Acapulco as performers take you back down memory lane with all the Motown classics from artists such as, Marvin Gaye, Diana Ross, Stevie Wonder, The Temptations, The Supremes, The Four Tops, Martha Reeves, The Jackson 5, Smokey Robinson, and many, many more.

And in Stanford-le-Hope the sounds of Detroit will also be ringing out at the Welcome Club.

For something a little quieter, why not try out an event at East Thurrock Community association that will play host to a board games evening on Friday.
