A THURROCK-based bus company is battling to win the World Cup - and it needs your help!

An online competition was set up by bus enthusiasts to gauge support for regional bus companies and Thurrock's Ensign Bus Company has made though to the closing stages.

In a format where companies are pitted against each other in qualifying votes, Ensign has come through from 328 original companies to the last 16.

Ensign director Steve Newman contacted Thurrock Nub News to say: "It's a bit of fun but it would be great if your readers could give us a boost.

"We cruised our group, have since won three knockout rounds but then drew favourites Lothian in the last 16.

"We need every vote we can get so if any of your readers with Twitter would vote for us or retweet we would be really grateful."

You can vote for Ensign via this link. .

Voting is open until noon tomorrow (Friday, 24 July).
