RESIDENTS across the borough have expressed consternation and concern about street signage and pavement markings that have appeared across the borough of Thurrock in the past couple of days.

Pavements have been designated as one way zones - with no information given to residents of properties who front the pavements and there appear to have been traffic flow changes in other parts of the borough, including new speed restrictions.

Residents have taken to social media to express their concern.

Thurrock Nub News has decided to make public our questions to the council. We have asked: "You will no doubt be aware of the considerable public consternation and confusion about the new pavement signage and street signs that have become profligate, albeit in a bizarre and apparently uncoordinated manner across the borough.

"There has been no obvious announcement from the council about what is going on, yet you have apparently turned major roads (Southend Road, Grays for example) into one way pedestrian walkways.

"Few people have a clue about what the signage on lamp-posts mean and many of the pavement paintings are now indecipherable.

"Can you please explain what is happening in our borough?

"Have there been any temporary traffic regulations orders put in place regarding these changes?

"Who is paying for all this work and will the signage be removed at some point or is it permanent?"

We will inform readers as soon as we get answers.
