By Neil Speight 2nd May 2021

POLICE are seeking information after a mum reported a horrific attack on her young daughter in a Thurrock open space.

The attack, which included an assault on the 11-year-old, prompted a statement from Essex Police which says: "We received reports of an incident on Nutberry playing fields, off Long Lane, in Grays, which happened shortly before 5.30pm on Friday, 30 April.

"It was reported that a girl was injured as a result of a BB gun being fired at her.

"She was then assaulted and suffered a bloody nose as a result.

"No arrests have been made and our enquiries into this incident are ongoing.

"Anyone who witnessed the incident or has information on it should submit a report online at here where you can use the 'Live Chat' button to speak to an online operator between 7am-11pm. You can also call us on 101 and cite incident 42/80523/21."

Information can also be given to independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

A second child was also shot at during the incident.
