A YOUNG man, possibly on his late teens, was stabbed in a bus shelter in Tilbury this evening.

The incident happened outside the Co-op store on Brennan Road, which was closed while police investigated the incident.

The area around the store was cordoned off but by 8.15pm (Sunday, 7 March) the police investigation on scene was concluded and the store reopened.

A witness on scene told Thurrock Nub News: "It looked really bad, he was stabbed in the leg. He was about 19. The whole area was sealed off."

The condition of the victim is not yet known.

Essex Police have been asked to comment.
