Youngsters praised for pick up efforts

YOUNGSTERS in Stifford Clays were on a clean-up mission today (Sunday, 6 September), winning praise from their leaders and a local councillor.

Members of Stifford Sea Scouts, supported by their leaders and parents, took part in a litter pick that started at Blackthorn Park, including the Remembrance Memorial area, and then spread onto adjoining raods including the busy Crammavill Street.

The youngsters were supplied with black bags by Thurrock Council, who will also collect and dispose of the rubbish collected.

Chair of the Sea Scouts group Mark Hooper said: "Once again it was lovely to see such commitment and a turnout from the various sections within Stifford Sea Scouts who worked very hard and made a real difference to the look of the area.

Well done to everyone concerned."

Local ward councillor Bill Mumford popped along to thank the youngsters and Sea Scout leaders. saying: "This was a great effort. It is heartening to see young people show such a commitment to the area where they live."
