SIX young artists have been announced as winners of a competition organised by the Thurrock Standing Advisory Council on Religious Education (SACRE) called 'Spirited Arts'.
The competition asked primary school pupils in years one to six to create art around themes inspired by their learning in religious education which illustrate the relationship between God, Earth and all the people that live on it.
The six winners: Sofia, Marian, David, Sophie, Andei, and Aylin, are all pupils in Thurrock schools. They each received toys which had been donated by Asda.
The competition asked children to create art on one of the following themes:
- "We have far more in common with each other than divides us"
- God's good earth - beautiful world and wonderful God
- Healing
- Inspiring
- Where is God?
The artwork and writing produced to explain pupils' thinking were judged by members of SACRE and Cllr Barry Johnson, cabinet member for children's services and education, said: "Well done to these worthy winners. The art and writing they have created as part of their Religious Education shows true inspiration and carries an important and hopeful message.
"I would like to thank these young artists for creating and sharing their wonderful work."
