THE operators pof Grays Shopping centre have outlined details of how they will be ensuring shoppers can visit in safety when many of the traders inside reopen for business on Monday (15 June).

A statement says: "We are very much looking forward to welcoming you back to Grays Shopping Centre. As you will appreciate, we have had to make some changes, which you will notice when shopping with us. The health and well"being of our customers and staff continues to be our top priority and we are working closely with our retailers to implement UK government shopping guidelines.

THE latest rural encampment by Travellers this evening (Friday, 12 June) has been accompanied by the setting of a large bonfire and possible horse racing.

After several weeks of a number of incursions in town areas, of late several groups of Travellers have set up in more rural locations - including Belhus Park and Langdon Hills Country Park at either end of the borough in recent days.

Empty airport - but London City is about to get busy again.

AFTER several months of quiet with only the odd low flying commercial or cargo aircraft travelling over its airspace, the skies of Thurrock will start to get busier again.

London City Airport has announced it will reopen for commercial flights from the end of June after being closed for the past three months. Flights landing at the East London airport fly directly over Thurrock on their approach to the runway by the side of the Thames.

A MAN has died following a crash in Stifford Hill, Thurrock, which saw a major link road closed all day (Friday,12 June) until 6pm.

That inevitably led to traffic congestion and diversions to local bus routes as Stifford Hill (B186) is the major road connecting South Ockendon with Grays.
