DUE to coronavirus the 40th Anniversary London Marathon was cancelled on Sunday (26 April). However, nothing could get in the way of Arthur Bugler Primary School wanting to complete the mighty challenge!

In a bid to tackle the 26.2 mile distance, members of the Arthur Bugler community were tasked to travel as far as they could over the weekend. Children and adults alike rose to the challenge and together they managed to cover 283.86miles (and 42 star jumps)!

POLICE have responded to concerns raised by neighbours and social media readers following publication of pictures and comments about a child in Tilbury who they feared were being put at risk by a mother.

Thurrock Nub News was alerted to the issue and has co-ordinated with Thurrock Council and Essex Police to follow up those concerns. It now appears the comments were malicious.

AS local communities begin to think about returning to 'normal' and a possible end to coronavirus lockdown restrictions approaches a popular Thurrock food outlet has announced it will be reopening soon.

Roddy's Fruit and veg 'market-style' shop in Corringham is hugely popular and continued opening after initial restrictions were put in place but eventually, as reported by Thurrock Nub News its owner decided he had to put safety of his staff first and closed.

EMERGENCY services rushed to the former Coryton refinery near Corringham this evening as residents in the area were shaken by a loud noise and reports of what initially appeared to be an explosion at the site close to the river Thames.

On arrival firefighters found a major safety valve had 'lifted' - causing a huge and very noisy plume of steam into the air.

THE manager of a Thurrock power station where a major safety valve blew last night (Saturday, 26 April), causing concern and consternation to local residents who had reported an explosion and a blast, has assured them the incident never put them at risk.

As reported live throughout last evening on Thurrock Nub News firefighters and police were alerted after the safety valve blew at Intergen's Coryton natural gas-fired power station close to the river Thames and accessed by the Manorway via Stanford-le-Hope and Corringham.
