TWO goals in each half steered Aveley to third spot in the Isthmian North table thanks to a 4-1 win at Great Wakering Rovers.

George Sykes gave the Millers the lead on 22 minutes, but it was cancelled out by Samuel Jeremiah's 39th minute penalty.

However, Aveley still went in to the break ahead thanks to Alex Akrofi's goal a minute before half time. A Manny Ogunrinde goal on 66 minutes and Sykes' second 11 minutes from the end wrapped up victory.

Grays spluttered to a very late win against Basildon United at Parkside that elevated them to fifth place. A dour game that will not live long in the memory of a crowd of 211 wasn't decided until the last two minutes when veteran striker David Knight netted a brace.

The first came from an 88th minute penalty and the second two minutes later.

There was little to remember from Chadfields, where Tilbury shared a goalless draw with visitors Witham.

The one bonus to come out of the game for the Dockers was a man of the match performance from Sam George, who has stepped up to the first team from Tilbury's development squad.
