Old Southendians and Southchurch 228

Saturday 21st August, Belhus CC 2nd XI leading batsman, Wayne Read opened the batting and held the innings together through all forty overs to put together a century, 117 runs. Wayne's century smashing performance with the bat was a masterclass for his young team mates.

The Belhus 2nd XI team, playing at Old Southendian and Southchurch, included six Belhus U16s and they all contributed to the final runs total of 233, before the turnaround. Old Southendians responded with 228 runs for a narrow 5 runs Belhus 2nd XI victory.

This middle table 2nd XI clash with Old Southendians was an important win for Belhus. This now sets the Belhus 2nd XI up nicely for this coming Saturday's fixture with second placed Epping at North Stifford,12.30pm.

Not to be outdone, the Belhus CC 1st XI edged the clash with Hornchurch by 18 runs in a reduced over match at North Stifford. Belhus 1st XI are away to Harold Wood CC this weekend.
