Colchester & East Essex 1st XI 131

That old sage, Walt Disney, once said "The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing". Belhus CC 1st XI heeded these wise words on Saturday 14th August and put in their best performance of the season thus far against their Essex Premier League visitors from Colchester & East Essex CC.

Belhus CC skipper Billy Winter won the toss and elected to bat, whereupon Belhus 1st XI proceeded to post a competitive total of 246-4 after their allotted 45 overs, thanks to fine half-centuries from Danny Joyce (50), Joe Joyce (78) and Max Osborne (60).

In their run-chase after tea, Colchester & East Essex were never quite in the hunt. Spinner Sahan Nanayakkara collected 4 for 31 from his 9 overs and Dan Dreher and Max Osborne took 2 wickets apiece as Belhus CC marched home to a comfortable 115-runs victory.

Belhus CC 1st XI now sit in 6th place in the 10-clubs Essex Premier Division with just 3 matches of the season remaining - against Hornchurch (in 4th place), Billericay (in 9th place) and Harold Wood (in 10th place).

Next Belhus CC 1st XI home game at North Stifford starts at 12.30pm this coming Saturday, 21st August v Hornchurch.
