Borough teams get FA Cup dates - and fans should be allowed to watch

By Neil Speight 19th Aug 2020

THREE borough non-League teams will feature in the preliminary round of the FA Cup which will be played on Saturday, 12 September.

Grays Athletic will be at home to fellow Isthmian North side Witham Town, and there will be another Isthmian clash between Coggeshall and Tilbury - who will have a tough prospect on their hands at West Street where the north Essex club boast pop star Olly Murs as one of their directors.

Aveley will also be away, to the winners of the extra preliminary round tie between Redbridge or Harpenden Town.

And the good news for supporters is that unless there is a change in regulations again, they will be able to watch the games.

Yesterday (Tuesday, 18 August) the government announced that it was allowing non-League clubs to draw up protocols for allowing spectators in.

Fans will need to abide by social distancing rules, and spectator groups must be restricted to "discrete six-person gathering limits".
