THERE was an emphatic victory for Tilbury in the FA Cup preliminary round this afternoon and a great result for fellow borough Isthmian North side Aveley who won away highly-fancied Maldon & Tiptree.

Tilbury travelled to North Greenford United and stormed into a 5-0 lead by half time with goals from Ola Ogunwamide, Brian Moses, Lewis Smith, Lee Burns and Josh Olsude.

Smith added his second on the hour as the Dockers emerged 7-0 winners thanks to Ogunwamide's second on 77 minutes. As well as the goals fest the match was notable for Dockers secretary Tony Mercer who ended up having to run a line for almost an hour of the match.

Aveley were successful thanks to a single goal from Alex Akrofi which came on the stroke of half time.

Grays Athletic are in cup action at Arlesey where they face Baldock Town tomorrow (Sunday, 22 August) with a 3pm kick-off.

In the Isthmian Premier, East Tilbury held a two goal lead against Bognor Regis at Rookery Hill, getting an own goal from Joe Cook on six minutes and Ben Wyss grabbing Rocks' second after 38 minutes.

The visitors, also known as 'The Rocks' pulled one back through Charlie Bell just before half time and he equalised on 64 minutes.

East Thurrock debutant Nana Adarkwa suffered a broken ankle just 14 minutes into the first half.
