Dockers triumph but it's bad news elsewhere

By Neil Speight 13th Nov 2021

TILBURY caretaker boss Luke Wilson added a second win to his record as the Dockers climbed to 11th place in the Isthmian North this afternoon (Saturday, 13 October) with a 3-0 win against bottom club Hullbridge Sports.

The hosts took the lead at Chadfields after 36 minutes when Roman Campbell continued his recent good run with a goal and on the stroke of half time Ola Ogunwamide made it 2-0.

Five minutes into the second half Ogunwamide made it three and Tilbuty were home and hosed.

However, there was disappointment for promotion-challenging Grays Athletic and Aveley.

It might well be that the best player on the Parkside pitch this afternoon was Dave Honeywell, Musical Director of Grays Town Band, who played the Last Post as the Blues paid tribute to their fallen heroes of the first and second world wars before the match.

It was a poor performance by Grays who fell behind to Luke Brown's 24th minute opener for visitors Stowmarket.

Joe Jefford wrapped up the win with a second Stowmarket goal five minutes from time as the Suffolk side drew level on points with grays in the play-off pack.

Aveley also suffered a defeat, losing 4-2 at Coggeshall who took the lead through Jamal Balogun's opener on 24 minutes.

However, by half time the Millers were in front through goals from Ryan Scott on 37 minutes and Alex akrofi three minutes later.

The hosts drew level through Ross Wall nine minutes into the second half and Jermain Francis put them in front on 79 minutes.

With three minutes to go Coggeshall were reduced to ten mine when sub Dean Ager, who had only been on the pitch less than ten minutes, was sent off but Aveley couldn't take advantage of the extra man and in fact conceded a fourth goal, with Francis adding to his tally in the last minute to confirm a second defeat for new Millers boss Danny Scopes since taking over the reins following the departure of Keith Rowland.
