FA Cup: Tough draw for Aveley, Grays are at home while Rocks have to travel

By Neil Speight 14th Sep 2020

GRAYS and Aveley have been rewarded for their weekend FA Cup preliminary round wins with differing fortune.

In the first qualifying round, scheduled for Tuesday, 22 September with no replays or extra time, Grays will fancy their chances at home to Potton United, who play in the Premier Division of the Spartan South Midlands League – a step below Grays who play in the Isthmian North.

Aveley, also from the Isthmian North, will have to take on the mantle of giant-killers when they make the long trip to Southern League Premier Division Central Lowestoft's Crown Meadow.

In an all Isthmian Premier tie East Thurrock United, who enter the competition at this stage, have been draw away to Potters Bar Town.

The prize fund at this stage is £2,250 for winning clubs while the losing teams receive £750.
