THREE borough non-League teams will be heading east today (Saturday, 3 October), two with hopes of FA Cup success.
Aveley will be travelling to Thurlow Nunn Premier Division Brantham athletic in the Second Qualifying Round of the FA Cup.
The Millers, undefeated this season and joint top in the Isthmian North table, will be favourites against a side from the tier below them, but will be wary of an upset as Brantham have already beaten St Ives, who are from the level above Aveley.
Grays Athletic's task in the same round is against a team from the same division, where both have played two games and sit side-by-side in the Isthmian North, with Grays in 13th with three points and Maldon a place below after two draws.
Maldon were one of the teams expected to be vying for promotion after topping the table when the campaign ended prematurely last season but it is likely to be a closely contested fixture.
Isthmian Premier East Thurrock United made a first round exit in the FA Cup and, after successive home defeats in the league will be looking to bounce back and pick up a first point of the season at Brightlingsea Regent who have one win from three matches.
Tilbury, who top the Isthmian North table on goal difference from Aveley, are without a match but have a tasty derby looming on Tuesday (6 October) when Grays Athletic visit Chadfields in the league.
