THREE borough sides will be taking the first step on the current season's FA Trophy adventure tomorrow (Saturday, 17 October) – even though last season's competition has yet to be concluded.

Isthmian North Division leaders Tilbury travel to Aylesbury United of the Southern League Division One Central, and this will be a battle between two leaders as the Ducks are also top of their table, with four wins and a defeat from their five fixtures.

Two other ties involving local clubs are all Isthmian League affairs.

Aveley, who bowed out of the FA Cup in midweek, will go to South Central Division fourth-placed Hanwell Town in a clash between two highly-regarded sides at the Powerday Stadium.

The Geordies have perhaps the in-form striker in the entire League, Ogo Obi scoring nine goals so far this season and eight in his last four matches, including two hat tricks; while the Millers may have a crisis of confidence having lost their last two matches after previously winning five in a row.

Aveley had a magnificent run in this competition last season, culminating in a trip to Notts County, and will hope for a repeat of that this time around.

It's a case of déjà vu for Maldon & Tiptree and Grays Athletic who meet at Park Drive, with Grays looking for revenge as the Jammers knocked them out of the FA Cup a fortnight ago after a penalty shootout followed a two-all draw,

Grays have announced the return to the club of defender Jack McQueen, who left the club in late summer to join Harlow Town.

McQueen made 33 appearances for Jim Cooper's men last season.

In the Isthmian Premier East Thurrock United will be hoping for a change of fortune at the seaside. Paul Martin's team sit at the foot of the table and are without a win this season in any competition.

They travel to Bognor Regis Town for a clash between two sides who share the 'Rocks' nickname. The hosts are in mid-table and will be playing only their second home league match.
