Grays Athletic 4, Romford 0

AN early goal from prolific marksman David Knight set Grays on the way to a comfortable Isthmian North win against neighbours Romford on Wednesday evening at Parkside and lifted them to the top of the table.

The veteran struck after just four minutes when he reacted quickly to prod the ball home from close range after Romford's defence failed to clear Danny Gould's cross, delighting the majority in a healthy crowd of 273 and they were cheering again on 27 minutes when Ryan Sammons' shot was deflected by Boro's Sam Dickens into his own net.

It remained 2-0 until ten minutes into the second half when Jack McQueen was left unmarked in the Romford box and headed home from a corner and Callum Watts came off the bench to round up the scoring three minutes from the end, racing through to score after a patient passage of passing drew the visiting defence out.
