WITH four minutes to go at Ram Meadow, Grays Athletic had victory against Bury Town in their grasp and fourth spot in the Isthmian North table but Ollie Hughes scored to give the north Suffolk hosts a share of the points.

It proved to be a disappointing end to both halves for Grays, who had led through Lewis Clark's 34th minute opener on for Ryan Jolland to equalise two minutes before the break.

Jack McQueen had Grays heading for victory with a 66th minute effort but in the end the Blues were thwarted.

And that opened the door to fourth spot to Aveley after a 2-1 home win against fellow promotion chasers AFC Sudbury

Alex Akrofi put the Millers ahead from the penalty spot on the half hour and the impressive Jon Benton maintained his goalscoring run since arriving on loan from Southend United with a second for the hosts five minutes into the second half.

Jake Clowsley pulled one back for the Suffolk side on 65 minutes but there was to be no comeback and Avelely leapfrogged the side from Suffolk in the play-off zone.

Tilbury boss Keith Rowland finally got his first win since taking over the Dockers, thanks to a good performance at Brentwood.

After a goalless first half Eljay Worrell put Tilbury ahead on the hour and when James Love put through his own net five minutes later Tilbury - who included new signing from Barking, midfielder Temitola Olukolu, in the starting line-up - were on course for a victory and not even Tom Richardson's last minute goal could stop that happening.

After a morale-boosting first win under the leadership of March Harrison and Liam Wallace at Brightlingsea Regent in the Essex Senior Cup in midweek hopes were high that East Thurrock United could turn a corner with a win at Horsham in the Isthmian Premier but in the end the visitors were well beaten and outclassed for much of the match.

The 3-1 defeat leaves the Rocks third from bottom and while they never stopped trying and deserve credit for keeping their heads up they might well have left The Camping World Community Stadium on the end of a much bigger defeat.

In the absence through illness of leading scorer Alex Hernandez, East Thurrock gave a debut to nineteen year old Colchester United loanee Tom Stagg but he was largely a spectator in the first half as Horsham produced almost incessant pressure on the Rocks goal.

Chance after chance went begging for the hosts in the first half, thanks largely to the fine efforts of Rocks keeper Arthur Janata and one spectacular goalline clearance from Sam Owusu.

Ironically, on a rare attack it was Rocks who had the ball in the net first but Oli Spooner's breakaway and finish was ruled out because of an offside flag. The legitimate opening goal finally came at the other end on 32 minutes when Harvey Sparks' cross found the unmarked Tom Richards who drilled the ball low and hard past the outstretched leg of Janata from close range. And one became two when Richard set up a close range finish for Eddie Dsane just seven minutes later. Rocks improved in the second half and began to threaten and were finally rewarded when Jake Gordon cut in from the left after a well-worked corner routine and fired a thumping drive home. There were a couple of half chances for an equaliser but Horsham remained largely in the ascendency and their superiority against a Rocks side that never showed a lack of effort came a minute from time when sub Charlie Hester-Cook restored the two goal advantage.
