A LATE cancellation meant Tilbury FC's friendly against Brentwood didn't take place yesterday, but nevertheless it was memorable day for the club who hosted a youth coaching day at their Chadfields home in conjunction with the Port of Tilbury.

It proved to be a very popular event.

Lee Upton, Youth Secretary from Tilbury Football Club said:: "Thank you to everyone that attended our coaching session in partnership with The Port Of Tilbury. Our coaches did an amazing job working with a total of 116 local young people.

Every attendee received a football provided by the Port. This was a great day had by all."

Paul Dale, Asset and Site Director at The Port of Tilbury said: "Tilbury Football Club was established in 1889 by workers from Tilbury docks and today we still team up for community events like this. During a tough year for everyone, football has brought some joy to people across the country and it is great to be able to connect with the young players of the future in this way."
