Updated: Police close Brentwood Road in Chadwell St Mary after incident. Man taken to hospital.

POLICE closed Brentwood Road in Chadwell St Mary this evening (Tuesday, 21 January) after a collision between a pedestrian and a vehicle.

It happened just after 8pm when emergency services rushed to the scene.

A 100m section of the road (the A128) just north of the Tesco service station and store was closed by police after the incident for an investigation.

Officers were still on the scene at 10.30pm.

An East of England Ambulance Service spokesman said: "We were called just before 8.30pm on Tuesdaywith reports of a road traffic collision on Brentwood Road in Chadwell St Mary, involving a car and a pedestrian.

"Two ambulances and an ambulance officer vehicle were sent to the scene. The pedestrian, an adult male, was transported to Basildon University Hospital for further care."

A further statement from Essex Police says: "We were called to Brentwood Road, Grays, at around 8.30pm on Tuesday, 21 January following reports of a collision involving the driver of a car and a pedestrian.

"The pedestrian was taken to hospital after he sustained a head injury that is not considered life-threatening.

"The road was closed while we carried out enquiries at the location and reopened around 10.30pm.

"No arrest has been made."
