A CONTROVERSIAL green belt planning permission has added hundred of thousands of pounds to the value of a borough village property - which is now on the market.
After previous applications were rejected, Thurrock Council planning officers recently granted outline planning approval for four new homes on the site currently occupied by one bungalow off High Road.
The proposed new homes would be built behind the adjacent property, where a garage will be demolished to create a new access road.
The decision is the latest in a number of approvals for properties close to the High Road, though one - which is well down a rural road and hidden from view, was rejected because of its impact on the environment.
The inconsistency in planning decisions is further highlighted by the granting of permission for 'chalet' styled bungalows next to the property currently on the market.

Building work on that site is nearly completed, though the buildings look very different to the applications put forward in the initial application.
The property where more new homes are scheduled has now been put on the market as an investment opportunity - with a price tag of £1.5 million.
The marketing by John Cottis Estate Agents says: "Exceptional development opportunity in sought-ffter Fobbing with outline planning permission for four additional detached houses.
"This is a rare opportunity to acquire a four bedroom detached home situated on an expansive 1.45-acre plot, located on the highly desirable High Road, Fobbing."
