Dover Athletic 2, Aveley 1

AVELEY fell short to out of form Dover Athletic in the Vanarama National League South. Millers couldn't hold onto their lead at the Crabble Stadium this Tuesday (26 December).

Pressure ensued from the Millers for large parts of the first half, but a clinical edge was missing from the game.

In the second half, Aveley made their dominance count. Garrett Kelly scored in the 62nd minute after he headed Kelly Powers' cross goalward.

However, Millers lead didn't last long. Iffy Allen scored in the 70th minute as he tapped home a freekick miss hit that ended up at the back post, luck was on Dover's side.

Dover secured the lead in the 80th minute through Zidan Sutherland. He launched a curled shot right into the top left corner.

Millers failed to capitalise on good chances.

Aveley play Dover once more on Saturday (30 December) at Parkside in the Vanarama National League South.
