Bowers & Pitsea 3, Grays Athletic 1

GRAYS failed to continue good league form as Bowers & Pitsea took the points at the Len Salmon Stadium on Boxing Day (26 December). Blues stay 18th in the Isthmian League North Division.

Bowers started well and took the lead after just 10 minutes. Forward Ben Williamson placed an inviting cross into the area and Matthew Price headed home into the bottom corner.

The visitors did not bow out in the first half and equalised in the 40th minute through Aron Gordon. He placed his shot into the far right corner.

Blues would've felt confident at half-time, but Bowers regained the lead. TQ Addy was fouled by Jordan Peat inside the penalty area, resulting in a spot-kick. Grays Goalkeeper Danny Sambridge denied Williamson's initial effort, but the rebound was put away.

Bowers added their third and final goal in the 78th minute thanks to Geofrey Okonkwo. Price put in a superb free-kick that Okonkwo headed in.

Grays missed the opportunity to win three league games in a row.

Blues face Bury Town in the Isthmian League North Division on Saturday (30 December) and Ram Meadow. Bury are in great league from having 10 points from their last four games.
