Torquay United 2, Aveley 2

MILLERS came back from two goals down to rescue a point against Torquay United in the Vanarama National League South. Saturday's (24 February) game and Plainmoor saw Aveley extent their unbeaten run in a decent away performance.

Up until Torquay's goal in the 27th minute, Millers had the better of it. But Arron Jarvis gave the hosts the advantage. Aveley's strong appeals that goalkeeper Jonathan North was fouled in the box are dismissed by the officials.

Torquay doubled their lead just eight minutes later through Brad Ash who smashed home from close range.

Just before half time Eduino Vaz was fouled in the box and Aveley were awarded a penalty. Siju Odelusi scored the penalty (45+2) to give Millers a lifeline.

It didn't take Aveley long to equalise the game in the second half. Vaz's 51st minute volley is a contender for goal of the season. From about 35 yards out, Vaz's classy finish shocked Plainmoor.

Aveley take home a hard-fought point in Devon.

On Tuesday (27 February), Aveley play Dartford at Princes Park Stadium. Dartford have only won one of their last 11 Vanarama National League South matches and sit 18th in the league. The local away game is set to be a cracker.
