AVELEY missed out on top spot, an accolade that went to Enfield Town, but nevertheless enjoyed a great Saturday (28 January) with a win at the home of morning leaders Hornchurch.

Only one point separated them at kick off, and given the Urchins vulnerability of late the Millers undoubtedly fancied their chances of completing a league double- and they went ahead midway through the first half, Ollie Coker the scorer with a fabulous free kick.

The Urchins levelled just before the hour, Sam Higgins scoring from the spot, but the Millers were soon ahead again through Manny Ogunrinde (pictured) and held on for victory. The Urchins drop to fifth- but they are only two points behind the leaders with a game in hand.

In the Isthmian North third placed Grays Athletic played host to leaders Sudbury.

Athletic were on their best run of the season, with six consecutive wins, but Sudbury once again delivered a win on the road, breaking home resistance with two late goals.

Josh Stokes put them ahead with just eleven minutes to go, and then right at the end Nnamdi Nwachuku continued his incredible goalscoring run by adding his 32nd goal of the season- and he has only played 26 times!

Felixstowe and Walton United's attempt to break back into the top five took them to Tilbury, the Dockers a point above the bottom four but newly strengthened.

New signing James Ewington gave the hosts an early lead, Zak Brown drawing the visitors level just after the half hour, and soon after the break the visitors looked to be on their way to a home and away double after George Clarke put them ahead.

The three points were confirmed seven minutes from time, Callum Harrison getting a third for the visitors.

Maldon & Tiptree welcomed East Thurrock United, and the two delivered a thrilling first half.

An own goal gave the Rocks, who had lost their previous three matches, a tenth minute lead, only for Terrell Egbri to equalise just before the half hour. Brian Moses quickly restored the visitors lead, only for Harry Phillips to just as quickly cancel it out for the Jammers.

The winner came five minutes from time, and it went to the hosts, Danny Nesbitt delighting the home faithful and sending his side up to thirteenth.
