Bantick on the move - again
By Grays Athletic correspondent 23rd Oct 2025
TWO goals from Sam Bantick in Tuesday night's Essex Senior Cup tie win against Southend United proved to be the last in a Blues shirt for the striker.
The 33-year-old ended his third spell with the Blues to join Isthmian North rivals Witham Town, who are 11th in the table, five places above the blues but only three points better off.
But there may yet be a fourth spell! In his social media sign-off the much-travelled Bantick paid tribute to Grays, saying: "A one of a kind club. Goodbye for now."
The week also saw Grays acquire two new players.
Defender Ainsley Frempong, 22, has signed for the Blues having previously played for Cambridge City, Barking and Buckhurst Hill and Michael Bareck, also 22, arrived after spells at Cambridge City, Ipswich, Witham and Basildon.
Grays are without a match at the weekend because their scheduled opponents are in FA Trophy action but they have a game on Monday (27 October) evening when they travel to Redbridge FC in the third round of the Alan Turvey (Isthmian League) Cup sponsored by Velocity. Kick-off 7.45pm
