JUST one of the borough's non-League sides are in action today (Saturday, 2 September) but it's going to be a memorable game at Parkside.

In the week it was announced that one of Thurrock's sides is to fold, Aveley will have a milestone match against former football league side Torquay United on level terms.

It's part of a remarkable rise in recent seasons for Aveley who have risen to the Vanarama National League South on the back of successive promotion campaigns.

Today's match kickls off at 3pm.

Grays Athletic, Tilbury and East Thurrock are sidelines because of their exit in early rounds of the FA, though following yesterday's announcement it is likely East Thurrock would not have played.

It's only a few seasons since East Thurrock also rose to the National league - when one of their highlights was also playing Torquay.
