AVELEY face a tough task this weekend as they seek a first Vanarama National league South win of the campaign.

Millers, who were beaten 1-0 in their last outing on Monday, make a trip to the south coast to take on Eastbourne Borough on Saturday (24 August).

Borough are a full-time team who have spent well with the likes of Michael Klass who featured for Worthing and Maidstone United last season and forward George Alexander who scored goals against Aveley last season for Slough Town before moving to Chelmsford City, helping The Clarets to second place finish behind Yeovil Town.

Also adding to their forward line is the signing of Alfie Pavey from Woking.

Last season Millers completed the double over Eastbourne, a 2-0 victory at home with goals from Jon Benton and Matt Rush - the reverse fixture was played in possibly the worst football conditions ever, as an Arjanit Krasniqi equaliser on the stroke of half time and a penalty slotted by Siju Odelusi secured a vital 2-1 victory.

However, Eastbourne are a different animal this season and it will be something of an upset in East Sussex if they take the win. Whatever happens, they have little time to ponder on it as Aveley are back in action on Bank Holiday Monday, at home to Slough Town (3pm).

Tilbury will be looking to build on their FA Cup success last weekend with a first win in the Isthmian North at Maldon & Tiptree on Saturday (24 August).

It won't be an easy task as the Jammers will be in good spirits after their opening day 4-1 win at Wroxham. However, if Dockers needed a marker they can take it from the win against Stanway – who put Maldon out of the FA Cup after a replay.

On Monday Tilkbury are back in action at Chadfields, where they will entertain Haringey Borough.

And the following weekend will see them back at the EMR Stadium for their FA Cup Qualifying round clash with Brantham Athletic.

That has meant that tenants Grays had had to move their scheduled league fixture against Redbridge, which will now be played onb the Friday night before (30 August).

This weekend Grays will look to shrug off their FA cup exit disappointment as they welcome Sporting Bengal United to the EMR Stadium in the Isthmian League North.

Grays will also be doubling up on Monday, when they travel to Basildon United in the league (3pm).

And there's an Essex and Suffolk Border League double header for East Thurrock Community FC who are home to Kings Park Rangers at the Wyldecrest Club on Saturday. The visitors sit third with three wins from four.

Perhaps a shade less daunting will be the visit mid table Sudbury Sports on Monday (3pm) – a game originally scheduled away but switched as Sports' ground is not available.
