Canvey Island 1, Aveley 4

MILLERS conceded early in Tuesday's (28 July) friendly at Canvey island, but bounced back to record a comfortable victory.

The visitors kicked-off the evening, but it was the Gulls who had the more promising start.

Within six minutes Garry Kimble's side had the lead after Ernest Okoh fired home an effort from the edge of the box, straight into the top corner.

Canvey's chances to double the lead kept occurring deep into the first-half, then the Gulls found themselves with a corner, however, the delivery was well defended by the Millers who were quick to take advantage of opportunity as the Gulls were left out of position. The counter attack saw the equaliser after Max Booth lobbed former Miller David Hughes from distance to level the affair.

Minutes later, Aveley found themselves in-front after a shot from the visitors deflected off of the Canvey number one, into the back of the net in the 37 minute.

Ten minutes into the action the visitors had a third. It was ex-Canvey man, Chris Harris who got his head on the end of Saunders' delivery to power home a two goal advantage for Aveley.

With 20 minutes to go Aveley had their fourth of the evening, after the Millers worked the ball into the box, where it fell to an Aveley player at the back post, after a scramble in the box, where he stuck his strike into the back of the net to put the Gulls three down.
