Tilbury 1, Stanway Rovers 2

A WET Tuesday evening (2 December) was a memorable milestone for two Dockers players, but in the end it all turned out to be a damp disappointment as the visitors left with all three Isthmian North points.

The starting line-up included Dan Trendall, making his 100th appearance and Luke Reeve who clocked up his half century of outings in a Tilbury shirt.

Dockers made a decent start and after ten minutes Tobias Braney's well struck free kick brought a decent save from Rovers keeper Josh Blunkell.

And two minutes later brilliant work on the right flank by Trendall  saw him set up Braney with a fine pass and he made no mistake from close range.

The home side might have increased their lead on 36 minutes but after Jack Hayes got on the end of a corner from Mo Amir his header was cleared off the line.

Tilbury took the lead into half time but it didn't last long after the restart. Just two minutes had passed of the second half when Nat Mardell scored an equaliser.

With the rain lashing down both sides went for the decisive goal. Tyler Forbes went close for Dockers with an effort that was blocked on 67 minutes and five minutes later determined defending and another block denied Braney, again after good work by Trendall.

But the match turned in Stanway's favour five minutes from time when they were awarded a penalty and Mardell made no mistake from the spot to decide the issue.
