GOAL chances were few an far between at Chadfield on Tuesday (25 Augist) evening as Dockers recorded their second goalless draw of the new Isthmian North campaign.
Ben Allen replaced the injured Soumen Nandin in the starting line-up, just one change being implemented following the narrow FA Cup defeat at the weekend at Biggleswade Town.
Fans had to wait until the start of the second half for the first real chance of the game, as Bobby Rea collected the ball on the left-hand side before driving inside towards the edge of the area and drilling his strike to the far post. However, visiting keeper Samuel Nwabuko got down well to make the save.
Shortly after, home stopper Billy Lawlor was called to action to make a reflex stop to deny Evangelos Empochontsif's back-post header from close range.
The Dockers came forward once again, this time with a ball sent forward to Troy Chiabi. The striker chested the ball down to set Joe Elliott for a volley on the edge of the area, which bounced just wide of the target.
On the hour mark, the hosts won a free kick on the right-hand side of the area. Jon Nzengo's whipped delivery was sent towards the far post where Elliott won his header, but Nwabuko was there to match the effort once again.
And Nwabuko would once again be vital to keeping the scoreline level when James Barlow flicked the ball goalward from Bobby Rea's low cross. The effort came from six yards out and headed for the bottom left-hand corner, but Nwabuko got down quickly and somehow tipped the ball around the post.
