A SOLITARY second half goal at Langford Road was enough to see Dockers exit the FA Cup at the preliminary round stage on Saturday (22 August).

Scant consolation though it will be, Tilbury did net a loser's cheque of £481 to add to their extra preliminary round haul of £1,125, but it was the Southern League Division One Central Waders who were all smiles at the end of a hard-fought tie and they go into Monday's draw which sees the introduction of step three clubs.

Chances were few throughout the match but the deciding moment came on 66 minutes when a long ball forward is chased by Chin Osadebe who battled his way through the two defenders before poking the ball into the net.

Tilbury continued to battle hard but only had one real opportunity to level, late in the game when Bobby Rea raced down the left wing and drilled in a low cross, but neither Charlie Stimson or sub Ben Allen could make the killer touch.

Tilbury are back in action on Tuesday night (25 August) with a home Isthmian North derby against Bowers and Pitsea, who have yet to pick up a point from two previous league outings. Tilbury sit four places above them in 15th, having accrued a point in their opening day fixture at Brightlingsea Regent.
