DOCKERS continue to mount an improving challenge for promotion and another emphatic league win at Chadfields on Saturday (7 October) kept them in seventh place.

They started October as they finished an unbeaten September, with a win despite some changes in the squad line-up that saw Jack Folan, Harry Hope, and Brian Moses leave the club and Peter Mokwenye and Tobi Adekunle come in.

The start of the match was delayed as the ref got caught up in traffic and when it did get underway is was the visitors, struggling near the foot of the table, who made a better start and they forced a save from Anthony Page who did well to deny Tom Lewis the opening goal.

But Tilbury gradually settled to their task and when Dan Trendall showed pace and produced an inviting cross just before half time Harry Donovan got on the end of it to give Dockers an interval lead.

Tilbury were much the better side on the resumption and Tom Salter went close with a great effort.

More chances came and went before Tilbury got their deserved second when Harvey Browne was set free and he found the net.

Three minutes from time Tilbury got their third when Oli Spooner was fouled in the box and Roman Campbell converted the subsequent penalty.

Tilbury are back in action at Chadfields on Tuesday when they play host to Coggeshall Town. It renews a rivalry from last season when both were rel;egated from the Isthmian North.
