AFTER the excitement of the FA Cup last weekend and in midweek Aveley FC make one of their longest trips of the season today (Saturday, 7 October) when they visit Huish Park Stadium to take on Yeovil Town.

Matches against 'big name teams are almost coming de rigueur for the Millers, who play host to Barnet next week in the Cup.

Today's mission though is to sustain their remarkable start to the National league South season in a clash that pitches the hosts, in third, against their fourth-placed visitors.

A win could even put Millers back on top of the table dependent on results elsewhere.

There's also a long trip in the Isthmian North for Grays Athlecti, who make the trek to Wroxham.

Grays have picked up just two league points to date and will hope to rekindle early season aspirations with a win against a side who just one win and two draws to their name.

This weekend could be the last time the name East Thurrock United appears in the Isthmian fixture list. The Rocks were due to play bottom club Ipswich Wanderers but since its financial collapse a few weeks ago the club has been in limbo, with its fixtures postponed.

This week the club's liquidation was confirmed and it is expected that the Isthmian League will meet next week to expunge this season's matches from the record.

Meanwhile a working group has been formed by fans to try and create a phoenix club and details of a business plan are expected to be announced next month.

In the Essex Senior League Tilbury will be hopeful of a win to elevate them even higher than their current seventh place position when they entertain Stanway Rovers who sit second from bottom with just five points from 11 matches.
