Sporting Bengal United 0, Tilbury 4
TILBURY moved 11 points clear at the top of the Essex Senior League after Wednesday evening's (6 March) emphatic win at the Mile End Stadium.
They took just seven minutes to get on the scoresheet, when Sam Carter released Alex Clark on the left and he drove down the line and delivered a cross that looped over the keeper for an unexpected opener.
The hosts were not without chances and on the half hour Roman Campbell saved the Dockers when he cleared a rebound effort off the line after Yasin Zougui's header came back of the bar.
Soon after Tilbury were grateful for another goal line clearance, this time from Alfie Fry, who had an excellent evening and was nominated as the visitors' man of the match.
The efforts in defence were rewarded just before the break when Dan Trendall skipped past two men before squaring the ball to Ollie Spooner who calmly found the back of an unguarded goal.
The second half saw Tilbury press home their advantage on 76 minutes when Harry Donovan crashed a volley home after good work by Macauley Joynes.
There was a certain symmetry when, seven minutes from the end, Clark grabbed his second with an accomplished finish after being set free by Spooner.
After a lengthy run of away matches, Tilbury return to Chadfields on Saturday (9 March) when they play host to Saffron Walden.
