TILBURY hold the early season bragging rights after a 3-1 win at the EMR Stadium today (Saturday, 22 July) saw the Dockers lift the annual Stan Veness Trophy, taking the trophy back from derby rivals and tenants Grays Athletic.

Izaih Antonine got Tilbury underway with a goal in the 12th minute when he headed home.

One became two in 35 minutes when Harry Hope's cross was headed in by Jack Hayes and ten minutes into the second half Antoine netted again.

A late goal for Grays proved to be a mere consolation.

East Thurrock United travelled to Great Wakering Rovers and lost 2-1, with both sides having a player sent off after a 60th minute confrontation.

Aveley had a smooth passage at Royston Town, comfortably winning 3-0.
