THIS rapidly rearranged match following Saturday's postponement offered Dockers the chance to make up ground on their relegation rivals but in the end they were grateful for a second half goal from Alex Clark which still keeps their slim hopes of avoiding a relegation play-off alive.

It now looks likely, with two matches to go, that Tilbury may avoid the ignominy of automatic relegation from the Isthmian North.

While Gorleston ensured their survival with a 2-0 win at Wroxham on the same evening, the single point still gives Dockers hope of overhauling Witham and it would take an upset of monumental proportions on Saturday (15 April) for Great Wakering Rovers to climb above them.

Rovers go to league leaders Hashtag United on Saturday and the internet-based side need just to pick up a point to claim the league title. And Rovers' last game is against second-placed AFC Sudbury.

Third-from-bottom Coggeshall go to bottom club Hullbridge Sports so whatever the outcome there it is likely Dockers will finish in 17th or 18th at worst.

And two wins in their last two matches and two defeats for 16th-placed Witham, could yet see Dockers avoid the play-off.

Tonight's match was an opportunity for Tilbury to make up ground but, despite having the ascendency, they found themselves a goal behind when Jack Adlington scored for the visitors after 35 minutes.

The hosts drew level on 74 minutes when Adam Vyse saw his effort cleared off the line but Clark was on hand to force it home.

Dockers pressed hard until the close but were unable to make a further breakthrough.

Attention now focuses on their trip to mid-table Wroxham on Saturday and the last Saturday of the regular season at home to Gorleston.

Games remaining:

Tilbury: v Wroxham (a), v Gorleston (h)

Hullbridge: v Coggeshall (h), Gorleston (h), Grays Athletic (a)

Great Wakering Rovers: Hashtag United (a), AFC Sudbury (h)

Coggeshall: Hullbridge Sports (a), New Salamis (h)

Witham: Felixstowe & Walton United (h), Maldon & Tiptree (a)
