Following the disappointment of their Bank Holiday Monday defeat at Basildon, Grays Athletic are back into league action on Friday evening (30 August), looking to get back to winning ways against Redbridge FC in the Isthmian North.

After a busy pre-season, Redbridge have had mixed fortunes since things got serious.

Victory over Great Wakering Rovers in the FA Cup, after a replay, was followed by a loss in the Preliminary Round to Barking FC.

In the league, the Motormen secured their first win of the season on Monday at home to Newmarket - two goals in the last five minutes from James Barlow securing the victory, after being behind at half-time.

Prior to that game, Redbridge had suffered defeats to Brentwood and Gorleston.

Last season, honours were shared between the two teams. A 2-0 win for Grays at home, was reversed at the end of the year when Redbridge won their home game 4-1 after the originally scheduled fixture had been postponed at the eleventh hour by the referee.

Two familiar faces to Blues fans in the Redbridge line-up are last season's top scorer for Grays, Charlie Stimson and the Ronnie half of the WInn twins.

They will certainly be keen to get one over on their old team-mates.

But the Grays squad will know that they need to improve on their last couple of performances and keep accumulating points, even at this early stage of the season.

The match kicks off at 7.45 pm on Friday evening at the EMR stadium, St Chad's Rd, Tilbury RM18 8NL
