IT proved to be a tough bank Holiday weekend for Essex and Suffolk Border League East Thurrock Community FC.

The fledgling fan-owned side that was created out of the ashes of defunct East Thurrock United are finding life difficult in the Premier division of the league and are still to win a point, with four consecutivbe defeats.

On Saturday they went down 4-1 to Kings Park Rangers in a match that saw them lose young midfielder Kyle Smith with a badly broken collarbone. Harry Prince got the Rocks' consolation goal.

They were back at the Wyldecrest Sports County Club on Monday, but went down heavily again, this time 5-2 to Sudbury Sports.

The club's run of consecutive home matches continues next Saturday (31 August), at home to Thorpe Athletic.

in the club's weekly podcast after Monday's match, committee member Jack Duffin spoke about the difficult start the club was enduring and he acknowledge the standard of football being played was 'nit good enough' but he said that the club's management were aware of that and were trying to strengthen the squad and he was hopeful things would improve 'sooner, rather than later.
